At GP#1 at Dandenong yesterday I used a full set of the MPC Road War wheels.
I have been skating on this wheel on-and-off since its release a few months ago, on smooth asphalt, open asphalt, and concrete and found them to be very, very fast wherever I have taken them so far... but that has not been at a race venue we use regularly in Victoria. Yesterday at Dandenong was the first time I've used them there.
The Road Wars were definitely the best-performed wheel I have used on Dandenong, ever. Most noticeably, they did not seem to 'deaden' in the colder temperatures yesterday - that almost every other wheel I have used has done. They kept rolling, regardless of the race speed at the time - even in yesterday's cold conditions where surface temperature was way down.
Although the Road War is much harder than the Black Track or Street Fight XF-wheels, grip was not an issue - regardless of the tightness of the corner line I took. The new Road War formula resists any deformation on double-push (a characteristic of other 'flex' wheels), keeping a narrow footprint and maximising roll throughout straightline skating. The wheel's design, despite its hardness, still allows for footprint enlargement on corners - so the bite-back that give MPC such a cornering advantage was still there... just with a much faster-rolling wheel... and one with more rebound than other hard-duro wheel offerings thanks to the high-rebound inner band in the wheel.
More roll than any Matters I have used, with more power return from a more relaxed corner stroke than Matter can offer - all while displaying less wear.
Mick.
