This is my last update from the 2007 World Championships Trip.

Our last day in the USA was just as busy, our Bus Driver was a real character and his name was Mickey and his bus was called Mickey's Spaceship (I kid you not) he wore a bright yellow jacket and name dropped the whole day, he also laughed at his own jokes so it was a very amusing day. We covered a whole range of places in the 11 hours that we had the bus. My apologies for the lack of e-mail over the last couple of days. The day of the Marathon was full on and then we had to leave first thing for the airport and the Hotel we have has no computers.

The Hotel has worked out perfect, I paid an extra $20.00 for the other two rooms so that they would not rent them out. Basically it is a large house that they have converted into a Hotel. There is a large plasma screen so we have a front row view of the whole Marathon albeit a 5 minute delay. What a wet miserable day in Jumundi as small city on the outskirts of Cali. The start and finish lines are approx 8k apart. Stephen has gone to the finish line and I have stayed at the start line, because of the, distance from Cali, the weather and the fact that we had to get up at 5.30am I have booked 5 rooms in a very, very, small hotel just on the start line. We are now back at the track for the last time, rather a sad feeling.

This afternoon after lunch we had a Team Meeting, Stephen & I let the skaters know that we were proud of what they had achieved, we understand that some have been disappointed in their results, however I am sure that they gave 100%, all are eager to get home to some serious training so that they can be in the Team for Spain. The Heats for the Relays have just concluded, unfortunately neither of our Teams made the Finals. At this point I would like to say that they all skated very well unfortunately the results do not reflect this.

We are heading back to the Hotel for Lunch and some free time.

As I have previously said our Hotel is great. Today they went above and beyond; when we returned to the Hotel for Lunch they had decorated the third floor with Balloons, and Congratulation signs every where they even had a Gold Banner on Daniels Door along with a sign on the notice board that said "You are the best" They prepared a special dish for Daniel for lunch that had an Australian & Colombian flag in it. Unfortunately after seeing the doctor about his foot, Mick has decided not to race today. Thank you to those who sent tips on how to help reduce the swelling, unfortunately none of what we tried worked. We are going to have another attempt this afternoon in the break.

I cannot explain the feeling of standing listening to the Australian Anthem with Daniel on the podium with a great big smile on his face. Whilst standing there it is not only Daniels medal you are celebrating; as memories of previous medals that have been won by Australia come to mind and you also find yourself celebrating them again. It is overwhelming. After this morning racing we went back to the Hotel for lunch, most just rested in their rooms.

We have returned to the track for the 10K and the 200m Time Trail. The 10K races have all finished, the Aussies really tried, Cameron had trouble with the injury he received the other day and someone kept grabbing his leg, Jason skated really well, he feels a lot better on the road than he did on the track. Hope you are all well, everyone here is well rested and ready to skate. It was a bit chaotic last night, we had a couple of black outs, just before dinner the lights went out and the Hotel were going to order Pizza, then the lights came back on and they cooked dinner. We had a good training session, the track was completely empty, the Brazilians had just finished their session and Mexico arrived just as we were leaving. Everyone tried the wheels that they had and by the end of the session most were comfortable with the wheels they had chosen.

After the session we came back to the Hotel for lunch. The Juniors are certainly enjoying the attention of the locals, they are being followed and asked for their autographs everywhere they go. There are a number of photos of this on the Logan City web page.

I am pleased to advise that both Mick & Cameron are fine after their falls last night.
Getting to the track this morning was really quick as it is a Public Holiday in Colombia.

Unfortunately no one made the finals of the 500's, we are now waiting for the relay's, Jason, James and Cameron are the only team we have submitted.

The weather today is slightly cooler than yesterday, I think the cloud cover is helping.

The Eliminations have just finished and unfortunately no medals for Australia.

Cameron had a fall, the medical staff have patched him up and he is fine. Unfortunately Mick also had a fall, the doctor has assured us that a couple of days icing his leg and some physio work will allow him to skate the Road.

All in all not a successful night.

As you are no doubt aware DANIEL WON SILVER in the 300 Time Trial.

We were all very excited about the win, it was a great feeling to be standing at the edge of the track watching. They advised that as it was so late they would wait till today to do the medal presentations, that will be nearly as exciting as the race itself. For the first time in a few years we were able to do the traditional Ozzie, Ozzie Guard of Honour.
